Advertising Week

As Senior Designer at Advertising Week, it’s been my job to helm the look and feel of the brand across our six flagship events online, in marketing communications, and at our in-person events

2023 Brand Refresh

This year for our New York and LATAM event, we introduced a fresh, enthusiastic brand identity. The goal of our work was to engage and our audience and extend our reach with our marketing communications and in-person design elements. I worked with our Experiential Creative Director to marry our digital identity with our live events. Below are several examples of our digital marketing campaign and live event designs for Advertising Week New York, which occurred October 16-19 in Manhattan, drawing crowds of over 15,000 in-person and 25,000 virtually.

Color, Logos & Typography

We utilize Public Sans and Avenir typefaces in differing weights in order to emphasize or introduce key information across communications and online. To better communicate Advertising Week as a global brand, the 2023 branding elements incorporate the key colors of each Advertising Week Market by design.

Online Schedule and Mobile App

The schedule – via desktop and mobile app – was one of the most important tools we can provide for our attendees, serving as a compass for the 500+ sessions, special events, and mentoring opportunities that happened during AWNewYork 2023. As a designer, my focus was on making the information on the schedule accessible and straightforward.

OOH, Display & Print Campaign

This year we had the privilege of having more out of home advertisement opportunities than any years previous. Using motion graphics, I designed several short video ads to display on buildings in Times Square, the NYC ferry, several MTA subway stations, LinkNYC stations, and taxi tops. Since most viewers would be in transit when they viewed these ads, I focused on making them graphic and eye-catching; using recognizable NYC iconography to garner the attention of passersby.

Reports, Printed Materials & Decks

Layout design for reports and print is one of my favorite things to work on, and I’ve had the pleasure of designing Advertising Week’s Reports in-house for the first time ever. This includes a comprehensive 50+ page trends report for each market, sponsored reports throughout the year, and dozens of decks for our sales, programming, production, and marketing team.

OOH AWEurope & AWNewYork Campaigns

2022

In the spring of 2022, AWEurope returned in full-force to in-person events, after a virtual event in 2021 and a cancelled event in 2020. Celebrating the vibrancy, diversity, and return to form, I came up with the straightforward copy “We Are Back” utilized on tube and bus stops throughout the city of London leading up to the event in May. Using imagery from around the city of London with an overlay of information about the event, I designed several ads to entice the viewer to consider the 2022 flagship event. The event was a massive success, drawing crowds of over 6,000 in-person and 19,000 virtually.

AWNewYork moved downtown in fall of 2022 for the first time ever. Housed in the new behemoth Market Line building in the Lower East Side, I called several design meetings to discuss the theme and language we wanted to convey with our event. We chose to focus on the rich tapestry of advertising history: from storefronts to newspapers to billboards. My static and motion designs mirrored this by combining multiple urban textures and selected typography from different eras in history to celebrate our new location.
